It's Just As Plain As It Can Be

It's New Year's Eve. Kim and I fell asleep watching Netflix. Now I'm awake after a long nap. O yeah! Enjoy this preview of a flyer that I'm excited about.

Could things get any better? No. This is just fine.

Trying To Get To You

This is an illustration about Ron Paul and his controversial newsletter. There was some pretty atrocious stuff in that paper. Hoist that rag!
Here's a closer look at some detail.

Here It Is, And Here It Comes..

Soon you'll see this finished. This is an exciting and pleasing illustration I've just begun.

You've Got to Have a Dream

I've been pretty busy lately, but I have started this editorial illustration. Since I'll be out of town for a few days, I'll just post a preview of my progress so far.

About Face IV

I'll be participating in this annual show that will be held on Michigan Ave. and Van Buren in Chicago.  Check it out on the opening reception Thursday or another time.

I Am Following The River

Finishing blocking in phase. BUT this happiness should not be based on temporary circumstance. There can only be so many landmarks.

The Lavender Hour is a great podcast. Really funny and thought provoking, AND I listen to it way too much.

You Can't Tell That Dude What To Do

Sexual harassment is complementary on the Cain Train.
I highly suggest you check out these songs by Tim Heidecker praising soon-to-be President Cain.

You Can Always Come Back

Good old fashioned, home-made lens flare. I don't use the commercial stuff.

Everything You Can Think Of Is True

I think everyone's excited for Tom Waits' new album that will be out soon. This is an illustration celebrating his comeback after 7 years without a studio album.

Sad Eyed Lady

I thought I'd post this quick sketch, although this kind of thing is considered fine art in some circles.

I'm A Consecrated Boy

Norman and J.C. and all the other papas wouldn't approve of a lens flare tool. That thought came to mind just mind... It's supposed to be funny.

Hallelujah, By and By!

Here's a flyer I did for the Wild Onion String Band. A lot of fun to paint. I love old-timey themes. They're so much fun, and traditional music has a special nostalgia attached to it. It's heart warming, is what it is.

Here's their Facebook and Myspace.  Do yourself a favor, and check it out.

Ba Da Da Bah, then (Whistle)

I've been listening to Bob Dylan's version of "Can't Help Falling in Love". I've probably listened to it about 150 times in the last couple of months. I read that the album was released by the record company without Bob's permission. (The record is mostly left overs and covers) I guess they were mad that he had just signed with a new label.
But oh mama, I'm glad they did release it. Bobby is a huge Elvis fan, by the way.
Here's a sketch I did while I was out of my mind, sitting.

"I've Had Too Much of Your Company", Said Tweedle-dee Dum to Tweedle- Dee Dee

So Bush wrote a book about his experiences in office. That's fine. Well Cheney wrote a book about his own experiences in the same events, and their stories aren't matching up. Duke it Out!

Feel Like A Fighting Rooster

I read an article about how Bob Dylan has never been too cooperative with interviewers and journalists. I love the guy, and I agree with every move he makes. You'll never get me to say a bad word about him!

If You Like Music, Listen To This

I made this album. It's available for free download HERE. So give it a listen. I'd like to thank Jason and Jim for all their hard work and support. This a project is made possible by Impotent Ohms Management. I hope you like it.

You Can Hear the Whistle, You Can Hear the Bell

This is a sketch I did a while ago and just never did anything with. It's of a man I saw on the Red Line. Kim and I agreed that I had to draw him. He's probably the coolest guy to ever ride the train.
Hey, on Thursday I'll be at Wizard World in Chicago selling prints alongside my talented pals, Jake Martin and Juan Martinez.(Their links are on the right.) So come on buy...Freudian slip. See you there.

Don't Look For Me, I'll See You

Very fun making these flyers. Casket Showroom's lyrics are very emotional, clever, thought-provoking, and darkly humorous. Inspiring to put images alongside.

I'm Moving After Midnight Down Boulevards of Broken Cars

I feel like this blog has become more impersonal than I originally intended. One reason is a feeling of censorship, and not wanting potential clients or employers to be turned off by certain honesty. It sounds ridiculous now. Another is just boredom of the format, which comes and goes. So I guess you'll see slight change in this thing.

I'm working on a lot of things lately, and I'm only adding to the list daily.. Lots of lists and I use a calender now.
I have rediscovered music in a couple of ways. I'm trying to get back to a place where I used to reside. In that sense. My brother bought me the new Fleet Foxes album as a graduation gift, and that record has been motivating me more than anything else since then.

Here's something. I added a new section to my website called 'Flyers & Album Art'. Some of this art hasn't been seen by anyone but the client and I. So I hope you enjoy.
If you have a band, or whatever requires a flyer, talk to me. I love doing these things.
Speaking of my web site. Wix didn't work for smart phones before, I guess, so now they offer separate sites made for the phone. Just go to JacobSandersArt.com on your phone an I assume you'll see this.
I don't have one of these phones. so if someone could email me and tell me if it works, that'd be nice. Hope you're all enjoying your summer.

Casket Showroom and the Elbo Room

I thought this was a cool shot. These two people leaned away, and from where I was sitting I saw my flyer.
I guess there were a couple hanging up, but this was right by the merch table.
And here they are. Great performance.
